Buena Park Police Headquarters

Griffin Structures was retained to perform a needs assessment study for the Department, and to validate or refine the expected space requirements for a new Police Headquarters. The needs assessment (which included an analysis of current and projected police calls for services, operational practices, regional and local crimes rates, arrest practices, and technology requirements, jail booking and release profiles, and other elements of the department) resulted in a documented and carefully computed refinement of requirements. 

Griffin Structures was subsequently retained as Program and Construction Manager to manage the design and delivery of the $38.8 million Essential Facility.  This 66,000 sf sustainable facility includes a police dispatch center, Type I jail, crime laboratory, evidence and property storage and management facilities, firing range, community room, briefing facilities, training room also designed as an Emergency Operating Center, and other elements.

This project has been awarded 2010 Project of the Year by the American Public Works Association, which recognizes the partnership between the managing agencies, the consultants/architects/engineers, and the contractors who, working together, complete outstanding public works projects or programs. The awards are divided into nine categories that include Transportation, Water and Wastewater, Facilities, Buildings, Public Works Management, Recreation and Athletic Facilities, Drainage and Storm Water Quality, Sustainability, and Creative and Innovation. This project received this honorable award in the category of Buildings.
