Environmental Nature Center

Griffin Structures provided Program/Construction Management for the delivery of Orange County’s first building to receive LEED Platinum Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council – the highest rating achievable.  The new 9,000-sq.-ft. education center (located on a 3.5 acre site in Newport Beach) provides its students with quality education through hands-on experience with nature.

The learning center is a net-zero facility that experiences a 95 percent savings in energy costs through the use of photovoltaic solar panels. Other sustainable features include optimized building orientation, operable windows providing natural ventilation, drought-tolerant, indigenous landscape, efficient storm water management, composite wood products, and water efficient fixtures.

The ENC is a non-profit organization providing opportunities for increasing the community's knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the natural world.

“The Environmental Nature Center is a legacy project in Newport Beach. We needed the assistance of Griffin Structures to manage our job with this perspective. The Griffin Team provided key input and direction. Most importantly, the Griffin team produced a project on time and within budget. There is nothing like hearing, ‘We are right on track.’ ” - Anthony Petros, Board Member, Environmental Nature Center
