Orangewood Children's Foundation Charter HS: The Academy

Griffin is serving as Program and Construction Manager for Orangewood Children's Foundation Charter High School. The school’s capacity will be 450 students at final build out and residential Family Units to house up to 80 students in a group home setting. The master plan of the campus proposes 160,000 square feet of academic and residential facilities to be constructed in two phases. Phase 1 will total 116,000 SF including a 37,800-square-foot academic building, a 37,200-square-foot administration and library building, three Family Unit buildings totaling 36,000 square feet, a 5,000-square-foot residential support building, and comprehensive site improvements. Phase 1 will support 320 students, 80 of which will reside in the Family Units. Phase 2 proposes the addition of two academic buildings―a 25,800-square-foot gymnasium and locker building and a 17,800-square-foot classroom building―to permit the growth of the enrollment to 450 students; no additional Family Units are proposed in Phase 2.

Programming and conceptual design phases are complete and schematic design is in progress with Site Plan Review submittal targeted for November 1, 2011. The project team is actively working with city of Santa Ana staff to expedite the planning review and CEQA processes to achieve an occupancy goal of August 2013.
