Griffin Structures is performing a "City-Wide Facilities Needs Assessment" for the City of Yucaipa. The objective of this project is to identify the community interest in various facility-based programs, and to assess how the City should address meeting these desires in future years. Financial sustainability is a key issue, as is how development of new facilities is supported by existing facility resources in the community.
The project includes a significant public input component which is made up of a number of data gathering methods: town meetings, focus-group workshops, web-based information gathering, and many others. Once public opinion is collected, then the analysis phase will arrive at a list of feasible public desires and options, which will then be further examined as to their implications and viability. This analysis will include a review of physical needs, cost implications, and operating (sustainability) requirements. This capital planning project will assist the City in its long-term facility program, and in identifying and meeting public needs and desires without locking into an approach prematurely, or in such a way that later viable options are prevented or hampered by wrong actions early on.
